Wundowie Iron Festival 2019

October 12th 2019

Located just off the Great Eastern Highway about 65 km East of Perth, Wundowie, normally a quiet country town, came alive on Saturday the 12th of October.  This event has traditionally been held annually in the second week of May but after years of getting rained out was moved to October.

                                                                                                                                          Part of the sales table

Wundowie is the birth place of the iron industry in WA but the organisers this year tried to lean away from the concept of celebrating this alone by making it more of a family fun day, with plenty of kids activities and free entry to the public an added incentive to attend.

Members Bob, Nigel, Maitland, Steve and Geoff accompanied by Brenda, Elaine, Diane, Nadia and Jonathon were greeted by light rain to start but it had gone by 8.30.

Bob had a range of Wundowie foundry made items.

Bob’s display included items made at the Wundowie Iron Foundry while Steve had an interesting axe and hatchet display. Mait-land brought a wide range including power tools while Geoff had the brace and brace tools. Nigel had the ever popular tool sales section.
