If there are issues with behavior, I would like you to: remind the student of good behavior choices, le mt know what happened either between group meetings or at the end of class!

About My Classroom: While I'm teaching, if I don't direct you, sit by distracted students and help them focus. Just cue the student to what is happening.

About My Classroom: My students are really good kids. They are chatty, but can be hard workers.

About My Classroom: I have a "reading helper" basket and a "math helper" basket. If there is down time you can always work with a student using the materials in the basket.
 
I will most often ask you to: read with students (RAH books), practice math concepts and help with math journal pages, help students with writing (ideas and spelling- do not spell for students).
 
If there are issues with behavior, I would like you to: redirect- help students stay focused in whole group. Feel free to tell students they need to listen, keep hands to self, follow directions, etc- they should treat you as a teacher. If problem, let me know.

About My Classroom: We pretty much do the same thing everyday, please take initiative if you see something to be done. If you have a down minute please sit by a child and talk with them about anything (very few of the students are spoken to in a conversational way and even fewer are listened to for any length of time.)
 
I will most often ask you to: work with a small group for 10-15 minutes, play games with 3 or 4 children, talk with children (to model converstaion and vocabulary), listen to a child read an 8 page book and then discuss the book.
 
If there are issues with behavior, I would like you to: hold up your hand and say "stop yourself, focus, this is your work," if that does not work send them away from the group.  (to a chair).

About My classroom: 5 year olds are a delight, but learning to read is hard work. The person who does this job is the parent, several students lack.
 
I will most often ask you to: commit to daily meetings- I need consistantance and realability, tutor partner practice book with 2 students, tutoring 15 minute blocks- very set language, chanting.

About My Classroom: Most stdents are in language academy. Many have never had previous schooling, many are reading at A-B levels.
 
I will most often ask you to: watch the lesson taught for 5-10 minutes then work with a small group, help students catch up with work, help students to strengthen concepts, help students with drills/skills.
 
If there are issues with behavior, I would like you to: give studnet a time out/warning, stop instruction until students can focus again, ask for help, use stern voice if necessary.

About My Classroom:  My classes are 50 minutes. I encourage you to be an active part of the class. these classes can be intentionally very active, but I also would like you to show attentiveness and engagement during discussions. If I have not assigned you students in class, or you forget please ask. I see different classes every five days. There are three rotations per class.

I will most often ask you to: guide students with materials and organizing notebook, engage students with what they observe/leanr/claims, writing with students.

If there are problems with behavior, I would like you to: give reminders. If you feel comfortable with take a break, thats okay too. Just please make sure I know the student is taking a break. That a breaks are after 2 reminders. Buddy Room (fix it plan) generally after two take a breaks. then if needed go talk to Ms. Shipp.
