RAMP: Radio Automation Management Program

A simple program to for radio automation. When you need more than WinAmp, but don't want a full-blown professional package.

RAMP is a program for the WinTel environment that automates standard radio station broadcast operations

RAMP was developed for Taylor University's radio station 89.7 FM WTUR as a student project during the 2002/2003 school year. It was then further expanded in hopes that there would be a use for it in missions.

RAMP is similar to other radio automation suites, but is intended to run on a minimum of hardware. All that is required is a Windows 98 or higher box with a standard sound card. While this limits the features, RAMP is targeted at a more budgeted or simple automation requirement.

That is not to say that this is not a professional-quality system. RAMP was our sole source of automated programming for the entire 2002/2003 school year at Taylor University's radio station, 89.7 FM WTUR.

Possible applications of RAMP are radio stations, business background music, church hallway music with interspersed announcements/encouragements, phone hold music, etc.

It supports nearly all Windows compatible audio formats including MP2, MP3, WMA, OGG Vorbis, WAV, AIFF and probably a couple others.

It supports logging, call signing, and pre-recorded or randomly-ordered shows.

The software and all of its source code is freely provided for any legal use, private or commercial.

Know that this program is still in beta stage. While we have used RAMP v1 at Taylor all year, this second beta version is not as tested as the original version. Not all features are implemented, and there may still be bugs that need to be ironed out. If you find any errors or things that could be implemented better (or should be implemented in the future), please feel free to contact me and I will most likely be able to modify the code for you in short order.

  • Some people have had problems with the setup installation file. If that's the case with you, you may have success trying simply the Beta Executable Files 2.73 Mb (June 3, 2003), unzipping them, and running the RampV2.exe.

Also, to assist in your learning of the RAMP automation system, I have provided a walkthrough tutorial of the basic RAMP functions.
