Great Lakes Ecology & Beyond

The goals of the great lakes ecology and beyond unit are for all students to...

  1. be able to develop a more in-depth understanding of goals from our general ecology unit.
  2. be able to develop an understanding of the interdependence of the variety of populations, communities, and ecosystems in the Great Lakes Region and Beyond.
  3. be able to list examples of populations, communities, and ecosystems including the Great Lakes Region.
  4. be able to describe how human beings are part of the ecosystem of the Earth and that human activity can purposefully, or accidentally, alter the balance in ecosystems.
  5. be able to predict possible consequences of overpopulation of organisms, including humans, (for example: species extinction, resource depletion, climate change, pollution.)
