HAMDY ELGAMMAL

Hi, I'm Hamdy!

I'm a software engineer and writer based in Oakland, CA. I've been a software engineer for about a decade and these days I work in Google's NetSoft team: the team that builds the software systems used in planning and delivering Google's planet-scale network. Since I joined Google in September 2021, I've worked on network risk evaluation, network demand forecasting and network delivery among other interesting automation challenges. I've also mentored junior engineers on their career growth journeys and coached new Googlers (a.k.a "Nooglers") on Google's internal processes and systems. For more on what I did at Google and my previous work, you can check out my resume.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, writing short fiction, flipping through books at local bookstores and going on long walks in Oakland's beautiful Joaquin Miller Park.
