School Funding Issues
Jefferson County Public Schools, like all Colorado School Districts, is facing major budget cuts in upcoming years due to decreased state funding. Jeffco Schools has cut $78 million since 2009 and an addition $45 million is proposed for cuts for the 2013/2014 school year which will have a great impact on the students at Hackberry Hill. A community grassroots organization, Citizens for Jeffco Schools, was formed to request that our Board of Education put a mill and bond on the November 2012 ballot. Our Board of Education voted to do so in June 2012.
In May 2012, the Hackberry Hill PTA passed a Resolution to join in the effort and to support the mill and bond.
