Dianne Kamfonik
, Marketing Chair [diannek [at] mit [dot] edu]I am a second year student in the Master of Science in Transportation (MST) program in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Course 1). My research focuses on public transit, and I am interested in finding ways to make transit more efficient and to increase ridership.  In particular, I am interested in the effects of pricing and fare structures on transit usage.

Since I arrived at MIT in August of 2011, I’ve served both as an event lead on the Empowerment Conference Committee and as a survey lead on the Mentoring Committee. I have also contributed several blog posts as a member of the Publicity Team. GWAMIT has been a powerful part of my first year here at MIT, and I am continuously inspired by the other women involved in it. I hope to continue to bring relevant discussions, events, and support to graduate women, as well as to further shape the GWAMIT brand to better suit the needs of the women it serves.
