'Gunneralikes'

This subgenus can be found in the cold temperate of zone of southern Argentina (Tierra del Fuego) as well as in the high Andes. Only two species are known the distictivey lobed Gunnera lobata and the widespread G. magellanica.

It consists of small-leaved grounding growing rosette herbs without stolons. Its leaves have the distinction of having flands in marginal lobes as well as on the tips of the teeth.

G. magellanica is available as an unusual garden plant, see this. Further images, and information in Spanish, is available from an on-line flora of Chile project or from http://132.236.163.181/index.html image gallery here.
