The GULF COAST BIRD CLUB is dedicated to promoting the knowledge and conservation of birdlife, other wildlife, natural habitats and natural resources; and to fostering an appreciation of our natural environment and of the significance of its influence upon human life. Founded in 1983, the GULF COAST BIRD CLUB seeks to provide educational opportunities to the general public and to other organizations regarding bird life.
We welcome all who are interested in birding and nature to attend our educational meetings and participate in our field trips. Field Trips during September through May give opportunities to see the many birds that inhabit, winter in, or migrate through our area.
Meetings
The club meets September through May, on the second Thursday of the month, 6 P.M. at Calcasieu Public Library, 2nd Floor, 301 West Claude ST., Lake Charles, LA 70605. Meetings include presentations on birding and nature.
Field Trips
Field trips take place the Saturday after the Thursday meeting. Leave at 7:00 a.m. from the parking lot of the Whitney National Bank at the corner of Ryan and College Streets in Lake Charles, near the 210 expressway. Field trip itineraries are announced at the Thursday meeting. Bring lunch and water for the day.
