Thank you...

To my Guilford family,

I'll begin this by stating the situation and finish it with some thoughts and thanks.  Bear with me.

As you probably all know I was blessed with a beautiful daughter in March of this year.  She is growing incredibly quickly and it's amazing how much she learns each day. Being a dad is awesome.  Being a teacher, I'm on daddy-daycare duty all summer.  I love it.

With her in mind, I was offered, and have accepted, the head coaching position at Rocky Hill High School.  Obviously this means I will not be coming back to Guilford in the Fall.  This was an incredibly difficult decision despite the main reason I have for making it.  I went back and forth for quite a while before deciding that I simply wanted to be closer to my daughter each day.

I am incredibly proud of all that we've accomplished at Guilford High.  I have no doubt this upcoming season is going to be phenomenal and you're going to go far in both the SCC's and State Tourney's.  I know I leave this program in a much better place than when I got here in 2009.  They say the mark of a good coach and a well run program is that the program continues to be successful even after the coach has left.  I believe Guilford Volleyball will continue to succeed and be a major factor in SCC Volleyball.

I want to thank Meghan Ruszczyk, Kristine Howell and Brittany Landon for their invaluable assistance in making this program as successful as it has been for these past three years.  I would also like to thank Chip Dorwin for hiring me and standing by me as we worked to change the culture of the volleyball program.

I would also like to thank all of the athletes who have come through the program, including the current members, who have given me their athleticism, effort, dedication, talent, humor, time, sacrifice, heart and soul in each practice and volleyball match.  Guilford is an SCC powerhouse in volleyball now thanks to all that you've put forth.

And I'd also be remiss if I didn't thank all of the parents who have supported our team as well.  I know we couldn't have done any of this without you.

Saying goodbye to this program and these girls is very difficult for me.  I will keep tabs on Guilford all year and cheer you guys on from up here in RH.  Hopefully we can schedule some scrimmages in the near future.  Please feel free to email or text me anytime; I am always here if you need to chat or have questions.  Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every one of you.

Coach Scott
