Guido Fratesi, born in 1978, received the Ph.D. degree in Condensed Matter Theory from the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA/ISAS) of Trieste (Italy) in 2005, with a dissertation entitled "Low temperature methane-to-methanol conversion on transition metal surfaces", supervised by Prof. Stefano de Gironcoli.

In 2006 he was post-doctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Giovanni Onida at the Physics Department of the University of Milano (Italy), and from 2007 to 2013 in the group of Prof. Gian Paolo Brivio at the Materials Science Department of the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy).

Then he joined the Solid State Physics Theory Group lead by Prof. Giovanni Onida at the Physics Department of the University of Milano (Italy), with appointments as a research scientist (from 2014 to 2016 and from 2017 to 2020).

Since March 2020 he is associate professor. in Condensed Matter Physics at the Physics Department of the University of Milano (Italy).
