Here is information about where you'll be staying in Antigua, Guatemala. As you know, the cost of your room, board, and transportation is all included in your tuition and fees. Thanks be to our expert travel arranger, Mary Fawcett, for finding us such excellent places to stay! (She is getting REALLY good at this.)

Our hotel,  Hotel Posada La Merced, is located near La Merced (see picture of yellow wedding-cake looking church below), in a great part of Antigua. It is within easy walking distance to historical sites, shopping, restaurants, and night spots. It has also gotten great reviews - see Trip Advisor for an example (one reviewer said, "the neighborhood is not that great", but I totally disagree...).

As you all know, you'll be sharing rooms and/or the apartment located in the hotel. We expect to use the apartment as our common meeting space in the evenings as we process our activities through the day. Those of you with dietary concerns can prepare inexpensive meals for yourselves there in the kitchen.

Best of all, this hotel is near to two of Mary's and my favorite restaurants!  Frida's is named after Frida Kahlo, the revolutionary Mexican artist. They serve incredible, reasonably priced Mexican-style food, and have lots of fun music after hours. Kafka is home of our friend Leah, an American transplant to Guatemala and one of the coolest people we met while traveling last summer. Leah will make you feel right at home, and the fries at Kafka are to die for if you're getting a craving for American food.
