UOG, GCC Scholarship application information


GUAM COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Guam Women's Club is offering several $1000.00 scholarships to attend Guam Community College. The applicant must either be a graduating high school senior or a GCC student who has completed at least one semester. See applications in the Financial Aid office for other requirements. Applications are due at the GCC Financial Aid office by March 15, 2017.

UNIVERSITY OF GUAM SCHOLARSHIP


A. GUAM WOMEN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION, UOG.

The Guam Women’s Club (GWC) Scholarship is offered to outstanding local students, male or female, who wish to pursue, or are pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Guam.  The scholarship will fund up to two students in any given year. Scholarship awards are based on academic merit, citizenship, leadership qualities, need, and GWC’s availability of funds.

AWARD:

The award covers tuition and fees for each student (12 to 15 credit hours per Fall and Spring semesters.) Payments will be made directly to UOG upon receipt of the billing from UOG. The scholarship is renewed after a satisfactory review of the recipient’s academic progress. Entering freshmen will have a maximum of ten (10) consecutive semesters eligibility, while recipients entering after the freshmen year will have this prorated. To continue as a recipient, the student must maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0. This scholarship must be used solely for tuition and fees. Students selected to receive a GWC scholarship may not receive another tuition/fees scholarship, so, for instance, must make a choice between the GWC scholarship, the Merit Scholarship, Pell Grant, Regents’ Scholarship, etc.

INITIAL ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS:

·           Applicant must plan to enroll or be enrolled at the University of Guam as a full-time undergraduate student.

·           Applicant must be a US citizen and resident of Guam. (Recipient to present proof)

·          Applicant must have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) listing the University of Guam as a recipient of the Student Aid Report (SAR).

·           Applicant must show a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 indicated on their OFFICIAL high school or college/university academic transcript.

·           Applicant must show evidence of home, school, civic and community involvement.

·           Applicant must submit three letters of recommendation from non immediate family members.

QUALIFICATIONS TO CONTINUE AS A RECIPIENT:

      •  Student must submit an OFFICIAL UOG transcript at the end of each semester to the Guam  Women’s Club Scholarship Committee.

·           Student must be enrolled at the University of Guam as a full-time undergraduate student.

·           Student must show a Cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0

·           Student must inform the committee of her/his impending graduation at the end of their next to last semester.

·        Failure to meet these requirements will place the recipient on probation for one semester.  If the requirements are not subsequently met, the scholarship may be withdrawn.

B. GUAM WOMEN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE, UOG 

        •  Complete the attached Scholarship Application Form. Download the "GWC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION " below.
        • Attach OFFICIAL transcript from either your high school or college.
        • Attach three (3) letters of recommendation from people who know you well, but are not members of your immediate family.
        • Attach proof of US citizenship and Guam residency.
        • Apply for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), listing UOG as recipient of Student Aid Report. (see Financial Aid Office for information).
        • Return the completed application to the University of Guam Financial Aid Office  Friday April 10, 2015 by 12pm.

 To be considered for the Scholarship, your application must be complete and include the following:

          • Completed application form.
          • OFFICIAL academic transcript from your high school (for entering freshman candidates) or college/university (for transfer or continuing students.)
          • Three letters of recommendation from people who know you well but are not immediate family.
          • Proof of US citizenship and Guam residency.
          • Report of  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) score listing the University of Guam as a recipient of the Student Aid Report (SAR).

After review by the Guam Women’s Club Education Committee, all applicants will be notified.

Each recipient will sign a memorandum of understanding of her/his responsibilities as a scholarship winner.

Note:  Applications and supporting information become the property of the Guam Women’s Club, which shall have discretionary authority in all matters pertaining to these awards.  The above information is held in strict confidence by the GWC Committee.
