I am the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology (9-12) at The Harker School, a private, independent K-12 co-educational non-profit school in San Jose, California.
I formerly taught grades 1-8 computer technology at Milpitas Christian School, a private preK-8 school in San Jose, California. We used (and I was in charge of) Gaggle.net, Google Apps, and Turnitin.com and many other "Web 2.0" tools.
Among my many geeky pursuits are geocaching and researching my British family history. I love geography, so I do a lot of presenting about Integrating GPS, Geocaching, and Google Earth into the Curriculum. I also speak on the topic of FREE Online Collaborative Tools for Education. I have begun to add more topics to my repertoire, and I also serve as a lead learner for Google Workshops for Educators and Google Apps for Education as a Certified Trainer.
I live in San Jose with my husband and son. We love soccer and the San Jose Earthquakes. My husband IS SoccerMainia, his soccer and sports teaching business.
In September 2008, I began my Masters degree program through San Diego State University's COMET (Cohort Online Masters in Educational Technology) program. Think Bernie Dodge. I earned my degree in August 2010.
I became a Google Certified Teacher in the inaugural November 2006 Northern California group, and I have really gotten a lot out of the experience. I have also been a peer coach for IISME and I am currently the President of Silicon Valley CUE.
