Charlie has taught math, science, and global studies at TPLC and is extremely excited to be teaching music this year.  In addition to the traditional music classes, such as band, orchestra, and choir, Charlie has expanded on some of the innovative music programs that were started over the last few years. These include a continuation of world drumming and add to that rock band, junk yard band, composition, and other courses not yet offered at most public schools.

Charlie attended Wichita State, and graduated with a degree in Music Education and Adaptive Music in 2002.  In 2006, Charlie completed his Masters in Gifted Education as he was working as the K-12 gifted facilitator in El Dorado Public Schools.

Charlie ran for the State House of Representatives in 2006 and left his position on the Sedgwick County Department on Aging Advisory Committee to come to Lyon County and work at Turning Point. For the past 5 years, Charlie served on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Association for Gifted, Talented, and Creative as a Region Representative, Conference Chair, and the State Technology Coordinator. Charlie has a passion for integrating a variety of subject areas in “real” projects that will emotionally charge students to achieve to their fullest potential.
