Guidelines What works best? Flexibility. "Think with your feet". If the session is not meeting your needs, it is okay to get up and go to another session. Frequently the best part of formal events like conferences are the informal conversations that occur in the hallways.
How are the session topics decided upon? Session topics can be suggested with the moderator tool below or in person on the day of the conference. Attendees will vote on pre-submitted ideas before the conference and the most popular ideas will be selected as a working agenda for many of the unconference sessions.
Who runs each session? The person who suggested the session guides the discussion. The aim is to keep things informal and open; unconferences are meant to be discussions, not presentations. The "guide" should not have to prepare anything except perhaps some framing questions.
What makes a great
unconference? The unconference is what you make of it. You get out what you put in. An unconference must be organised in order to be successful, yet there should be some flexibility within the framework. Session guides should think of ways to convert their idea or topic into a conversation so that everyone is able to participate.
