This site has been created to provide information on Red Cross training being offered to River Valleys Girl Scout Leaders by Girl Scout volunteers. Training is provided by Red Cross certified trainers in cooperation with the Girl Scout Council of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys. First Aid and CPR training is not being offered directly by the Council at this time so several Girl Scout trainers have gotten together to set up these trainings which are being offered to leaders on a first come-first served basis. We are also available to provide training to Service Units.
The training we offer is the Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR/AED, which was updated in 2011 and 2014. The new FA/CPR/AED program is shorter in length but still covers all of the basic life-saving skills as prior versions. In addition, the Red Cross has made available online materials and online refresher courses so participants can review the important skills and keep those skills current without attending a CPR class every year. All certifications are now good for 2 years. More information about the updated training can be found at the Red Cross website. Links to the Red Cross sites can be found by clicking on "Links" to the left.
