Scheduled Meets - 2014

After a group of us met at Joe's home on April 5th, we put together the following calendar.   These outings and their dates are not set in stone, but rather a guideline for how we plan the year to go.

We will discuss each week's outing on the NewBrunswickFishing.com website, and our Facebook site.   As we nail down details, they will be updated here.

April 5th

  • First get together.    A meet and greet, and to plan out our summer outings.

April 26th

  •     Sturgeon Fishing

May  3rd - East Branch Musquash

  • Lake Trout / land locked Salmon.  All the way to the end and back.

May 10th or 11th

  • Half of the group will seek out Sea Run Trout with either J.C. or John as the leader at either Hammond River or Kingston
  • Half of the group will seek out Brown trout and Land Locked Salmon at either First or Second Lake.

May 17th or  18th - Long Weekend

  • Half of the group will seek out Sea Run Trout with either J.C. or John as the leader at either Hammond River or Kingston
  • Half of the group will seek out Brown trout and Land Locked Salmon at either First or Second Lake.
May 24th
  • Smallmouth Bass fishing at Wheaton Lake.   There is a campgroup there so we may make this our first overnight outing of the year, and of course     families are welcome on any overnight trips!

May 31st -  June 1st

  • Shad fishing in the Kennebacasis one day.
  • First Lake for Browns and Land Locks.
  • Previously thought salt water would be good this weekend but it's still a bit early, and IPop isn't available to lead that excursion.

June 7th

  • Shad Tournament in Chipman / Salmon River.    This tournament is a lot of fun and everyone is encouraged to attend.   We can organize carpools, and people can arrange to go a day early and camp out.   Probably not the best site to camp as a family though.

June 14th and 15th

  • June 14 - Bellisle Bay Pickerel Tournament.  Jeff has a spot up that way with lots of land and a beach, so we may want to arrange for an overnight/camping trip this weekend.
  • June 14 - Shad tournament... was postponed last week due to high/dangerous waters.
  • Group outing at the Hampton launch next to the bridge near Kredels.

June 21st

  • NB Paddler’s Derby in Oromocto.   Everyone is encouraged to attend.  Lots of prizes, and you could win a free kayak!
June 28
  • Fishing For Memories Pickerel in Hampstead
  • This will be about the end of Brown trout season so an outing for trout in Loch Lomond could be a second option with an additional option of taking on the Mispec River as well (this would likely be for the more adventurous of the group)

July 6th

  • Hurricane Arther weekend.  Some of us got out Sunday to Sturgeon Alley
July 12th
  • Kayak safety course put on by the folk at Outdoors NB for out kayak fishing group.   We highly recommend that everyone strongly consider taking this course.

July 19th or 20th

  • Long Lake (near Utopia) for smallmouth bass.

July 26th or 27th

  • Hall’s Lake for smallmouth bass, perch, lakers...etc.  (assuming I'm thinking about the right Hall's Lake!)

August 2nd or 3rd

  • Hammond River / Sturgeon alley, prepping for Hammond River Classic.

August 8/9th

  •  Couple of local options around greater Saint John.

August 16th

  • Hammond River Classic tournament.  Again, you can win a kayak, and there are lots of prizes.  Everyone encouraged to attend!
August 23nd or 24rd
  • Salt Water, out around Partridge Island perhaps.   Weather will dictate this.

August 30th or 31st

  • Blacks Beach for Stripers / Mackerel, weather will dictate date.
Sept  6th
  • Night fishing at Sturgeon Alley.   6PM to as late/early as you can take it!

Sept  13th or 14th

  • Striper fishing above Reversing Falls

Sept  20th or 21st

  • Long Island / Minister's face.    Sunday mornings early would be the best time to avoid all the motor boats that travel that area.
Sept  27th or 28th
  • Wheaton or Ludgate for Smallmouth Bass
  • Mackerel fishing a second option, or we could do both.

Oct 4th

  • Sturgeon tournament - $1000 first prize!
Oct 11th – 12th
  • Coys Lake (camping for the family an option)
