Global Studies Club will reconvene our weekly meetings this Thursday at 5pm in the Student Union Pacheco Room.

 

Announcement: Global Studies Club received the Honorable Mentions to the following Sammy Awards at the Student Organization Recognition banquet:

Most Outstanding Professional/Academic Student Organization

Presidents Award

(Global Studies Director Dr. Conniff, advisor Professor Khanna, and Ryan represented the club at this banquet).

Special thanks to Dr. Conniff, Eric, & Ryan for their contribution to the lengthy application and those who actively volunteered and participated in our club sponsored events.

GSC t-shirts are only $5 for the members.

 

Election

Please talk to me ASAP if you are interested in running for a position. No experience necessary, but you must be accountable and reliable. See the attached pdf for position chart and their very brief descriptions. Most descriptions are self-explanatory.

If you are a Global Studies Major, I would highly encourage you to get involve with the club. This is your club and your involvement will benefit you in many ways.

Subject: Club update and no meeting tomorrow‏

Good Evening,

First of all, I am proud to announce that Global Studies Club, in cooperation with AIESEC, won the 3rd place at the International Quiz. Congrats to all the participants and thanks for keeping the club’s tradition going.

Second, I am calling off tomorrow meeting due to not being able to find a replacement chair. Tomasz and I are being honored at the A.S. 55 award ceremony this Thursday at 7pm in the Morris Dailey Auditorium. (Anyone is invited, no RSVP necessary).  

Third, this is a friendly reminder that there will be no meeting next week as well due to Student Organization Recognition Banquet. We applied for a couple of Sammy Awards and I am very hopeful that GSC will receive at least one.

Fourth, I am very happy to share with you that our funding request for lapel pins and mugs just got approved. Thanks to Shaunna and Ryan for their hard work.

Fifth, I would like to thanks to all who participated at the recent A.S. election. Both of our endorsed candidates won their respective positions.

Finally, I will keep you posted on our future events. The weekly meetings will reconvene on May 6. It was great to see many new faces at the meeting last week and I would like to encourage you all to get involved with the club.

First of all, I like to extend an invitation to participate in upcoming International Quiz on April 16 from 10-1pm in the University Room. It is a Global Studies Club tradition to participate and this year we are teaming up with AIESEC. We do have one or two more seats available; if you would like to join us please email me with your name, email, and phone number. If we run out of seats, I will try to register and put you in a different team. Alumni are welcome too.  
 
Second, Global Studies Club will be participating in Global Village Event on April 13 from 3-5pm at the 7th street plaza. Come drop by!  Learn about different cultures and the opportunities to truly experience them by working abroad. There will be costumes, pictures, clubs, and fantastic people! 
 
Third, our vice-president Tomasz and Secretary/Treasurer Kevin are running for A.S. position 09-10. Please show them your support and vote on mysjsu between April 13-15. Vote for these globally-minded people to our A.S. Government.

Greetings,

As you all know we had our initial meeting last week. Although the majority of the members weren’t able to attend the meeting, it was productive with new comers. Please read all about it in the minutes which is coming soon.

Since we are meeting less often, it is necessary for the club to take care some business outside of the regular meeting. Please feel free to request individual meetings or planning sessions if you should need one. I will also be requesting officers for a meeting as need arise on Thursdays that we are not meeting. Tomorrow, Feb 18, I will be in Ohlone Room of the student union, between 5-6:30pm to work on flyer designing and other club businesses. Anyone is welcomed to join me.

Greetings,
The Global Studies Club will be meeting Thursday, February 11th, 2010 from 5:00 -6:30pm in Clark Hall 116 for the first time this semester. This is the most convenient time for those who responded with their availability. It is possible that we will be meeting every Thursday at this time; however, we will make a final decision based on this meeting’s attendant.
Our Secretary & Historian: Kevin and I are working on Global Studies Club Montage, if you would like to include your study abroad or travel photos please send us your best two with some description ASAP. (You must be a member) We will be including events and photos from all club related events. 
Please come prepared if you would like to suggest social, professional, and academic activities you would like to see in the club. Global Studies t-shirts will be available to purchase at this meeting at a discounted price. This is going to be fun and exciting semester, you might want to be part of!
