Located in the basement of Swift Hall, The Divinity School Coffee Shop has been a part of the University of Chicago for nearly five decades. Over the years, we have operated under various monikers and in differing capacities, but have always strove to fulfill two goals: 1) to provide the University of Chicago community with a reasonably-priced, quality alternative to other cafes on campus and in Hyde Park, and 2) to raise funds for the student community at the University of Chicago's Divinity School.
Grounds of Being is the only student-owned, student-run cafe on the University campus. Our staff is entirely comprised of graduate and college students, and we are managed solely by Divinity School graduate candidates.
