Crescent Cheese Danish
  • 2 (10 ounce) cans reduced fat crescent roll dough
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages reduced fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk (save the egg white for use later in the recipe)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Line bottom of baking pan with 1 can of crescent rolls. Pinch all seams together to seal.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk,  and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread filling on top of rolls. Place second can of rolls on top of filling, pinching seams together to seal.
  4. Beat egg white with a fork until frothy and spread over top.  Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon to taste.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Let cool and cut into squares.
-Add a layer of strawberry jam over the cream cheese mixture for more flavor.
-For even more sweetness, drizzle a simple glaze (1 C confectioners sugar and 1 T milk) on top of cooled danish squares.
