From a new member for 2025 season -
"The Club's introductory session a couple of weeks ago was really interesting and valuable. I’m now spotting more fish and some good size ones. I’m not spooking as many and am managing to cast to a lot more and to cap it all I landed a 14in brown at the bottom of Frasers Pool this afternoon. I’m really enjoying the river, very challenging but very rewarding. So glad I’ve joined the Greywell Flyfishers Club".
The Greywell Flyfishers Club is at the very top of the River Whitewater, a chalkstream that rises from numerous springs above and below Greywell Mill in North East Hampshire. Members fish on over 1.5 miles of the river together with two lakes, one of which provides fishing for rainbows all year round.
The fishery is located about 6 miles east of Basingstoke and just a few minutes drive from junction 5 of the M3. The river and the beautiful village of Greywell seem to be years away from the noise and rush of the motorway.
The river rises in and flows through Greywell Fen which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It offers an unusual and perhaps unique environment, being wonderfully clear and seeming bigger than much of the river downstream. Fishing is mostly casting to seen fish.
