For our 2015 Celebrity Concert at our new concert venue, St Peter and St Paul's Catholic Church, Swadlincote, we were proud to welcome Ffion Perrett, soprano as our Celebrity Artiste.

Ffion discovered a passion for singing whilst studying with Eleri Roberts for her GCSE practical examination. This joy of singing continued during her Music 'A level' studies when she trained with Gail Pearson. Ffion took a year out following her 'A level' studies and continued working with Gail before successfully auditioning for The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester where she spent four years studying with Mary Plazas.

She graduated in December 2014 with a BMus (Hons) degree specialising in Opera and Vocal Studies. During her time in the prestigious Conservatoire she was fortunate enough to take part in the College production of Handel’s Xerxes as well as the RNCM Opera Gala Concert. She has played the part of Elisa in Mozart’s ‘Il Re Pastore’ and Stella in Andre Previn’s ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ as part of the RNCM opera scenes and took part in the RNCM’s performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in the Bridgewater Hall as part of their Ludwig Van festival. Ffion has been very lucky to take part in performance classes with internationally renowned visiting tutors such as John Fisher; Roger Hamilton; Patricia McMahon; David Owen Norris; and Alexander Crowe.

As a regular performer with choirs and orchestras surrounding her home town of Cardiff she has performed with The Pendyrys Male Voice Choir; The Barry Male Voice Choir; The Castell Coch Choral Society; The London Welsh Male Voice Choir and is very fortunate to have been asked back to perform with them. She has also had much success in National and Urdd Eisteddfods. Ffion continues to build her repertoire which already includes Classical Songs; German Lieder; Operatic Repertoire and Oratorio works including Handel’s ‘Messiah’; Fauré Requiem; Haydn’s ‘Creation; Bach’s ‘Magnificat’ and Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’ .

Ffion is now based in London continuing her vocal studies, receiving coaching from Peter Robinson, who's CV includes chorus master at Glyndebourne, resident conductor with Australian opera, Assistant Director of Music at English National Opera and was up until recently Artistic Director for British Youth Opera. He now works regularly at The National Opera Studio, Guildhall College of Music and Drama, The Royal College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music.
