Art For Action

Swami Samvidanand organised an art camp called ART FOR ACTION in village Dayara Barsu near Gangotri in Utharakashi district.Artists like Bos Krishnamachari, C N Karunakaran,T Kaladharan,Madhu Venugopalan,Bahuleyan C B,Priti Kahar,Murali Cheeroth,Johs P S, Sridhar Iyyer,K R Subbanna,Anoop Kamath,KrishnaMurari,Ajay Lal and Suparna Mondal were all part of the camp.The paintings done by the foremost artists of India were planned to fund the 'Save Himalaya -Save Ganga' campaign of the Trust.But soon after the 10 days camp ,Utharakhand was hit by flood and the Trust sought permission from the artists to sell the paintings and use the fund for flood relief activities. Swami Samvidanand organised exhibition of the paintings at Indian Habitat Centre and NIV Art Gallery in Delhi.The fund raised from paintings were used effectively for the flood rehabilitation activities.It is said that a picture can paint a thousand words,whereas in this case it moved more than a thousand steps.
