Welcome

Dallas, Texas – Nature is an awesome force.  Last weekend I decided to use the rainy Saturday to continue sorting my Dad’s garage.  Trust me it wasn’t the first time or the last.  Four siblings, a number of cousins, even neighbors getting whatever they wanted; two garage sales for the public; and still I’m out there.

The sky looked like the bottom would fall out and I’m in the garage.  Torrential rain starts pouring but of course I’m safe and dry wondering what each piece of metal could be or was.  Of course I’m discarding resisters and fuses that had a good use in the ‘50s.  I’m recycling what I can.  Happy in my thoughts of my Dad and our life when a giant clap of thunder slammed the door down!  For a minute I knew my Daddy had felt what I did – could I open it from the inside?  That split second of fear; I knew he had experienced that.

Well, I got the heavy door back up and stuck a screwdriver in the hole he’d made some other time, maybe 40 or 50 years ago, when the same thing had happened.  Nature had surprised him too.  Buckets of rain coming down, thunder resounding so hard it shook the garage; that awe we humans have to feel.  In our safe little lives, in our safe little garages; nothing could protect us.

The elements have been wreaking havoc all around the world.  Flooding in the Boston and New York and Colorado and Wisconsin and Texas; tsunamis in India and Thailand and Japan; earth quakes in Colombia and Port-au-Prince and Japan and San Jose; fires in Colorado and Utah and Oregon and Idaho - we have no control.  This is what we’ve set up for ourselves.

Did we think Nature was going to take our messing around with Her lying down?  Did we think Her enormous power would not respond to all we’ve done?  Did we think?

Nature gives us our life – the ground we walk on and build on, the air we breathe, the water that sustains us – and we take Her for granted.  Nature will survive.  She will burn and quake the Earth to make way for the new.  She will flood and tsunami to clean our air and oceans.  Mother Earth will live on.  But what about us tiny humans who are parasites on Her?

Just like me out in my Dad’s garage minding my own business, we will all feel the cleansing.  When Nature has had enough and we’ve extinguished ourselves, She’ll be here as awesome and powerful as ever.

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to live with Her?  We know our limits.  Al Gore and Many others have been telling us for decades.  What are you doing to help?

Ø  Stop pumping carbon into Her atmosphere and water – that’s coal, oil and gasoline.

Ø  Stop spilling chemicals into our oceans – that’s fertilizers, toxins and plastics.

Ø  Stop feeding chemicals into our underground water tables – that’s drilling, fracking and quarries.

You can make a difference.  You make all the decisions in your home – use less energy, recycle as much of your waste as possible, start a garden.  Speak your truth to anyone that will listen.  Vote for those who care about our Planet, who recognize the danger of staying our present course and who are willing to stand up for humanity.

Well, we made it.  We didn’t “destruct” at the end of the Mayan calendar after all.  We’re here in 2013.  Look around; what do we have?

We have our first conscious opportunity to evolve who we are and how our planet is used.  We can choose a way to live that will serve all generations to come or we can choose devastation.

Consciously, we have the perspective of seeing our little “blue marble” in space.  We can look at all of history via the internet and see what didn’t serve our world.  We can realize our choice has to work for everyone for it to be the right choice.

Sarah van Gelder, writes for YES! Magazine in her article “What Would Nature Do?”, “Nature works in cycles.  There is no place to throw things ‘away’.…Nature is a self organizing and adaptive network of relationships.…generates yet more life and relationships.…Nature uses current energy (mostly the sun)…not fossil energy”.

Ms. van Gelder’s point is how we are using nature now, can’t last.  We send our trash “somewhere else”, only to have it land on someone else’s piece of the planet.  We mine Earth’s resources, cutting off the top of mountains and polluting whole watersheds.  We use the Earth’s finite resources instead of the plentiful sun and wind to power our world.  It won’t work for long; it’s not really working now.

Sven Eberlein, writing for YES! Magazine, concludes that William McDonough, Michael Braungart, and Janine M. Benyus all had the answer a decade ago with their ”cradle-to-cradle” design.  All we have to do is manufacture products that mimic nature’s processes so that everything is safe and sustainable.  This is “indirect contrast to our conventional cradle-to-grave mentality”, said Benyus.

When products are designed with nature in mind, said Bill McDouough in a recent Ted Talk, “At the end of its life you could put your product in a bath of enzymes to disassemble it, and then you’d be able to use it again”.  We are at “The end of the old, the ways of being that no longer serve; to the birth of the new, the ways of being that serve a prosperous, thriving world that works for all!” writes Lisa Clapier for The Los Angles Post.

We also have a choice about who we’ll be in our world and what we’ll put our energy behind.  For me that means, being the peace in all situations I encounter.  I’m learning that takes the humility to not be “right” all the time.  We can also support those in the world who are promoting peace such as Birth 2012.  We don’t have to be against anything.

You can support peace right where you are.  “Vote” on polls, surveys and petitions for peaceful changes.  Repost peaceful ideas and opportunities on facebook.  It’s easy.

Which new evolvement do you choose?  To perpetuate a green and peaceful planet for our children?  You get to decide.

Stop today and appreciate why you have the air and water and comforts of your home and travel.  It’s because our planet gives it to you.  So many are hustling and bustling, buying and planning this time of year.  Stop just for a moment and think about the gifts you are receiving every day from our home, Earth.

She gives and gives and we are using her up.  Like the tired mamma who works and gives and then finally blows up or implodes, there is only so much Earth can give us.  Like everything we imagine in this reality – it’s finite.

We can easily sustain our Earth.  We can choose to have clean air to breathe and stop pumping carbon into our own supply.  We can choose to have clean water by conserving what we have and keeping our refuse out of our streams, rivers and oceans.

We live on a beautiful, plentiful planet.  Our lives depend on keeping it that way.

While you’re hustling and bustling this season, think about why you have a choice to celebrate in the first place.  Give Earth the gifts this year.

·       Give our Earth the gift of CONSERVATION, buying only recyclable or recycled party ware, holiday wrap and use of natural resources.

·       Give our Earth the gift of LOCAL, shopping in small neighborhood businesses that don’t have to ship their products to you.

·       Give our Earth the gift of GLOBAL, giving a water purifier to a village with no fresh water.

·       Give our Earth the gift of PHILANTHROPY, supporting museum shops, websites and organizations that are doing good in your community.

Celebrate the planet this year in the choices you make.  What you buy and how you live on our amazing home, Earth, makes a world of difference.

RECYCLE with everyone in America this quarter

Did you know that everyone in America and everyone in Texas, are coming together and recycling in the coming months?

Since 1997, Keep America Beautiful communities across the country have come together during the fall to celebrate America Recycles Day.  It is one day to educate and motivate our communities. One day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about what can be accomplished when we all work together.

Here in Texas, we celebrate both the Trinity River Trash Bash and Texas Recycles Day during this time.  It's so much fun getting together in the cool of the season to learn about and divert recyclable materials.  Whether you are out in a canoe on the Trinity or cleaning out your garage, you know you're doing something worthwhile.

Happy that you enjoyed my presentation.  It was wonderfully revealing to me to add spiritual oneness-consciousness to the knowledge.
I have been teaching this information now for 10 years and have grown spiritually from the practices.  I hope you'll add something to your daily practice that will help our planet.
We only have one planet and we are all one people.  It will take all of us to use this defining moment to evolve from a conscious place.  Join me.
PowerPoint presentation from Sunday, August 26, 2012 here.

Thank you for finding my site.  It's filled with great money saving tips that will help our planet.
I am happy to help you put this information to use by speaking with you on the phone or via email; by consulting with you at your home or in your facility; or by giving a presentation to your group.
We can all do something that will lower our carbon dioxide emissions.  It's as easy as turning off the light switch or combining your errands in the car.

I am looking for work...not just any work...I want to put my passion for helping the planet to work.  I have made great strides in improving the community on my own.  But what I learned is that you can't do it by yourself.  I would like to work with a team of inspired people so that we can bounce ideas off each other, brain storm about the best answers to any road blocks we encounter, and combine our energies to make change.

If you are helping the planet by putting volunteers to work doing community service; by engaging citizens in programs that educate them about energy efficiency; and/or by using a non-profit to make a difference - I'm your lady!

Here's my elevator speech so you'll know how I can help:

Hi, I'm Sharon Goddard.  I’ve spent years making sure that outcomes met specifications; keeping all the balls in the air with creativity, possibility and determination.  I can facilitate any idea into reality.  I recently put 8,212 volunteers to work, completing 36,000 hours of community service worth a quarter of a million dollars, from the thought “I can do that!”.    I am quite effective.

I'm a whiz on the computer; great green presentations, speaker or tabling; special event or project manager; program development; idea facilitator; deliverable creation; organization fulfillment; and volunteer development.

If you know of a city or organization who needs my talents - be sure and get the information to me.

Thank you for being part of the solution...
