  • AMD announces R9 Fury X, Fury, and R9 Nano. AMD announced several new GPU's on the new 'Fiji' platform. AMD's CEO Lisa Su claimed that these new cards have a 1.5-2x improvement in perf/watt. Now if these claims are legitimate, the reviewers will have to determine that with the benchmarks they will throw that these monsters. AMD is also announcing a new memory technology called HBM which has a 4096 bit bus over the 512 bit bus from the last generation, seriously impressive. These were the claims that AMD made about HBM Memory. If this performs as promised, and if perf/watt is close to NVIDIA, then It might be enough to get \The cards will available in July 2015. Fury X-$650Fury ...

  • AMD to compete with NVIDIA's Titan X and 980 Ti in Perf/Watt? Rumors have flown around of AMD's R9 390X to be a re brand of the R9 290X which is a major disappointment for computer enthusiasts. But never fear, for AMD also announced that their Fury and Fury X GPUs are to also launch soon. I saw a spec sheet for the aforementioned GPU's and I almost sharted when I saw the Fury's specs. It consumes slightly more power than the Titan X and the 980 Ti BUT... the TFLOPS are noticeably higher meaning that AMD may not be regarded as the conjurer of inefficient GPUs for much longer...maybe.I hope that these specs are what the cards will be equipped with at launch and that I ...

  • 35W CPU Inbound! (Rumor) A recent post on benchlife.info showed the spec sheet of the long awaited Skylake-S CPUs. What interested us was the fact of how high the power consumption is of the K (Unlocked) Models; 95 watts! Whaaaaaaaaaaaa? Anyway... after a few minutes of crying we moved down the list and saw an i7 CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads at 3.6 GHZ, AT ONLY 35 WATTS!  Now we're talkin'!!This made us super excited for the potential of having both gaming and multitasking with a low power requirement. It will be interesting to see how performance will (or will not) be affected by the lower power requirement compared to their K series bigger brothers.
