Trust for Public Land

In December, 2010 The Trust for Public Land, working with the City of Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency, was awarded a 'Sustainable Communities Planning Grant and Incentives Program' (Proposition 84) to create a South Los Angeles Green Alley Master Plan.  The CRA, along with the Trust for Public Land, is currently performing a feasibility study on a small green alley near South Park and LA Academy Middle School.  

Written into the grant are funds to provide stipends for 5-10 Jefferson High School Green Design Academy students to help with outreach and coordination for creating the Master Plan.  

The alleys should try to connect as many opportunities for health as possible, including the new Fitness Zones recently created in the area.  See below:

Pasadena, CA 1/14/2010: Kaiser Permanente, The Trust for Public Land, and the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles are helping people be more active, thanks to several outdoor, all-weather equipped Fitness Zones popping up at public parks. Los Angeles City Councilmember Jan Perry, District 9, today will dedicate the first of six Fitness Zones in the South Los Angeles area.
