Green Design Academy Inauguration

On September 14th, 2009 Jefferson High School held an Inaugural Celebration to kick off the Green Design Academy that opened with the beginning of this school year.  The Green Design Academy is 1 of 42 California Partnership Academy's funded by the State Department of Education.  The Academy opened with 70 10th graders who will graduate in 2012 prepared for college and careers in the Green Design/Engineering Sector.  We had the honor of presentations from LA Trade Tech, CSU LA, UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Students, Root Down LA and Environmental Charter High School.  Special Guests to the event included people from the Museum of Tolerance, the Bureau of Sanitation, Harmony Elementary, and Imani Energy (solar).  City Councilwoman, Jan Perry encouraged all of us to continue to collaborate and create positive change.  The night was the culmination of synergy that had begun a year earlier and the beginning of formal partnerships to support our students and our community.
Trade Tech with their customized maps for our zip code
Root Down LA and students catered the event.

UCLA Extension Landscape Architects presented their concept design.
