  • Tuckerton Creek is a very special band in that it is being created especially for the Friday Night Concert Series. Over the past almost 40 years, through associations with his "Bluegrass Music Family" Band Leader and creator, Randy Bailey, has selected a few to be members of Tuckerton Creek. On August 26th folks will witness the birth of Tuckerton Creek at Tuckerton's Friday Night Concert Series. The evening will be filled with music from the Masters, Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers, Seldom Scene and many more.
Randy is the proud son of a West Virginia coal miner. Before his family moved to New Jersey in 1962, inspired by his grandmother and father, Randy developed a love for music from a very young age. At age 17 Randy joined the jam sessions at Joe and George Albert's Home Place, the inspiration for the well known venue, "Albert Music Hall”, playing guitar and later the upright bass. He has played bass with great bluegrass pioneers, including the late Bob Paisley, James King, Ronnie Stoneman of Hee Haw the late Rose Maddox and most recently with Jesse McReynolds and the Virginia Boys of the Grand Ole Opry. While he is extremely grateful to have played with these great musicians, he considers it an equal blessing to have played with some real fine local musicians, too numerous to mention. For 27 years Randy has been fortunate to be the host of the Sunday morning bluegrass radio show, Bluegrass Jam (WBJB 90.5FM) at Brookdale Community College sharing the chores with a great friend, Heidi Olsen.

  • Be sure to come out for this Bluegrass event!!

    Full Harvest Moon

Captain Mike's Marina, Great Bay Blvd., Little Egg Harbor (map)

    Sunday September 11th 5:30 to 11:30

September this is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of harvest farmers can work late into the night by the light of this Moon. Usually the full Moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25 to 30 minutes later across the U.S., and only 10 to 20 minutes later for much of Canada and Europe. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice the chief Indian staples are now ready for gathering.

  • Be sure to come out for this Bluegrass event!!! This year's summer concert series is sure to be a highlight of your 2011 summer.

    Full Harvest Moon

    Friday September 24th 5:30 to 11:30

September this is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this Moon. Usually the full Moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25 to 30 minutes later across the U.S., and only 10 to 20 minutes later for much of Canada and Europe. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice the chief Indian staples are now ready for gathering.

Sunset Park is located under the Harvey Cedars water tower located on Salem avenue and the Bay. This is the first traffic light in Harvey Cedars. Please bring snacks to share after the paddle! Most likely our last Full Moon Paddle of the year... Harvey Cedars, NJ map
