This is my final logo.
I used Adobe Illustrator CS2 for my project. The first thing I did was go to file, place, then I went to a drawing of the horses that I created for my logo. I put it on template and clicked place.
Then, I used the pen tool to trace my horse using the stroke of 4. Then, I put the fill color as black. After that, I clicked my mustang and double clicked the reflect tool. I pressed the word copy when a more detailed version of reflection tool came up. That way I would have 2 black mustangs facing each other.
I placed the horses at least 5 inches apart. Then I placed a Blue rectangle from their front hooves to their stomach. I arranged the blue rectangle behind the horses. Then I created a hexagon which I arranged behind the horses and he blue rectangle. I created a gradient for the hexagon. The pattern was read, white, and red. I arranged the gradient on the shape to where a little white would show up on the top and the bottom of the rectangle. Then the swatch red would be the rest of it.
In the blue area, I typed HARMONY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Then I changed the font to Rochester Extra Bold. I changed the font to white and the stroke to black and point 4. Then I made their length shorter. Then I created a white star outlined in black. I arranged it to be behind the letters. I made the second point on the left side of the star underneath the letter S. I, then, put a white rectangle with no outline behind my words. I made its opacity 75%. Then I added the effect of flag to it. In the end I put some finishing touches by stretching the horses a bit so they would be taller.
Detailed I will..
Listen: I listened to the administration and my teachers.
Think: Well I thought our school mascot is a horse and I thought back to the old designs where they repeated the mascot, like the lion sign.
Interpret: I figured the school stood for academics (geometric shapes) and achieving your goal (the star)
Connect: I felt that if I connected the 2 horses together it would bring the whole thing together and connect the logo.
Simplify: I simplified by not adding more to the hexagon and making it fancy.
Bridge- I bridged my logo with the shapes that connected two horses together and sort of symbolized peace between the horses that are standing.
Make Memorable- I think I made it memorable with Harmony's known colors and the 2 black horses. The horses to me are the most distinct part.
