(My Final Logo below)
I used Adobe Illustrator CS2 for my project. I got a template of a horse running from online.(http://www.f150forum.com/f15/garage-pics-finally-39785/) So I used it as a basic shape for my horse. I traced the template using the pen tool. Then I modified my horse to be the way I would like it.
After I traced the horse, I opened the gradient window. I clicked on the horse and then dragged fill colors the gradient window. I placed them in the pattern red- white-blue-white-red. Then I changed the gradient color’s sizes so it would show the right amount. Then I changed the angle on the gradient window to 90 degrees. This way I would have horizontal stripes.
Then with the type tool I wrote HARMONY PUBLIC SCHOOLS across the blue part of the horse. Then I changed the font to Vivaldi Italic. Then I created a star with a white fill and black stroke. I minimized the star and placed it near the letter H. Then with the paint tool, I created a white streak behind the letters as well as connecting it to the star.
In the end I added a white rectangle about the similar size of the horse behind the horse. I placed the same gradient used for the horse in the rectangle. I arranged the rectangle behind the horse and then I decreased it’s opacity to 58%. Then I went to effect, warp and applied the effect flag. Then I positioned my warped rectangle to where it looked like it was the cloud of dust left from a focused horse.
Detailed, I will...
Listen: I listened to what people thought about Harmony, and what they said most about it.
Think: Most teachers and admin mentioned the mustang.
Interprets: I interpreted that this school was academic and focused. A running horse to me seems more focused on where it is going.
Connects: I tried to connect things from Harmony's original logo so people would see the pattern that was emphasized and think Harmony.
Simplifies: I tried not to make it to complicated by not adding details to the horse or making a background.
Bridges: I tried to bridge the logo and the words by putting them together so people would recognize the school as well as the color and design.
Makes Memorable: I tried to make it memorable with the pattern and the racing part because they are distinct
