My name is Matt, and history fascinates me. "Grapefruit Able 6" is the radio call sign assigned to my grandfather for the latter part of his service during World War II:
GRAPEFRUIT = 121st Infantry Regiment
ABLE = "Able" Company, 1st Battalion
SIX = Commanding Officer
During his service with the 143rd Infantry Regiment, he was assigned "Roses Able 6" and "Roses George 6" as call signs (he commanded "Able", and "George" Companies), and was at varying times throughout his service assigned to Regimental Headquarters, and Supply Company.
I collect NARA documentation, maps and photographs pertaining to the 36th Infantry Division, and the 8th Infantry Division. I am happy to share my collection with those who ask nicely.
