Grant-Valkaria was incorporated as a town on July 25, 2006 by joining the two previously un-incorporated communities of Grant and Valkaria. The ZIP code is 32950 and the area code is 321.
A largely rural town in the south end of the county, Grant-Valkaria includes older homes, newer upscale homes on acre-plus lots and the county owned Habitat Golf Course, a 6,836-yard, par-72 course set near the Valkaria Airport amidst the rolling hills, pine forests, and wetlands of the area. The community name of Valkaria derives from Valkyrie, a warrior-maiden of Norse mythology.
Grant-Valkaria is home to many private pilots and the Valkaria Airport serves many small general aviation aircraft but Grant-Valkaria may be most known for its annual Seafood festival, dubbed the "Grant Seafood Fest" every year on the last weekend of February. Additionally in recent years in the fall the town has held Q-fest, a barbecue festival on the same grounds.
