Relax and enjoy…

As of April 2017 we have a new website: hotelgrandmaraismich.com, please visit it for current information and to book directly.

Poet, novelist, screenwriter and rugged-individualist
Jim Harrison never slept here as far as we know, but he often drank just a short block away at the Lake Superior Brewing Company
(Dunes Saloon).

Location, location, location! Just park your car and walk to everything!

Welcome to Historic Hotel Grand Marais, located on the ground level of the former Campbell Street Gallery
building, just two blocks west of the white sand beaches of Grand Marais Harbor, two blocks south of the agate beaches of Lake Superior and one block from the heart of downtown.

Combining natural beauty, history, fine art and local color, this is a great starting point for exploring Grand Marais and the Upper Peninsula.

The rental features a kitchen, living room, private bath and sleeps up to four. The renovated historic 1883 building was originally Hotel Grand Marais and a lumber company office. As a tribute to the old growth White Pine forests, which once blanketed the region, wooden exposed walls in the bedrooms show massive boards. The kitchen/living room features a piano bar, where you can sip cool drinks and share conversation as meals are prepared.

The Suite evokes a feeling of yesteryear, simpler times and features a collection of antique brewery advertising, framed Jim Harrison quotes and two of the original pillars of Historic Hotel Grand Marais.

We had fun bringing new life to this proud old building and hope you will enjoy it!
