Annie's Big Nature Lesson

Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing, Michigan became my students' classroom for an entire week last November. Through Annie's Big Nature Lesson teachers choose a nature center to attend and work closely with their naturalist. A big part of this program has children spending an hour a day in quiet observation reflecting on their surroundings.

Sitting quietly in the white pine forest offers a calm rarely felt in the classroom.
Here we're observing those creepy, crawly decomposers.
The Grand River was a favorite spot for many of our students.
