Trail guide for 30 years. Ed made much of the wood/rawhide furniture seen at the Watchtower, Phantom Ranch and Hermit's Rest. Ed became a friend to Mary Jane as he helped her with the geological fireplace in the history room of the Bright Angel Lodge. When he would not accept her offer for payment she instead gave a gift of a beautiful cashmere sweater to Jeanne, his teenage daughter.

Born in Supai. Worked on trail crew. One of 40 Havasupai who helped carry cables down for the Black Bridge in 1928. While returning from guiding tourists into Supai, Elmer's truck broke down. He died in a snowstorm, his body not found for seven years. Elmer and Ed Cummings perpetuated a friendly feud - each vowing he would some day own the other's most prized possession. Much money was bet and advice was given, but Ed never managed to acquire the chief's hand-tooled saddle. Conversely, the chief was never able to get Ed's silver spurs. Watahomogie's death brought whites and Indians together to honor his memory. As the first shovelful of earth fell into the grave, Ed stepped forward and dropped in his silver spurs as a tribute to his lifelong friend.
Son of Elmer, graduate of Grand Canyon HIgh School. Worked as ranger at Indian Garden, then at water treatment plant.
