2011 Offices and Responsibilities

This page provides the list of offices and a brief outline of general responsibilities associated with each position. These lists are in no way comprehensive but serve as a guide for what is expected for each position.

President:
  • Attend bi-weekly Graduate Council Meetings
  • Attend alternate bi-weekly Graduate Council Executive Committee Meetings
  • Serve on the University Academic Standings Committee
  • Organize all aspects of the Midwest Graduate Research Symposium
  • Attend monthly GSA Officer Executive Meetings
  • Attend monthly GSA General Assembly Meetings
  • Appoint and convene The GSA General Assembly
  • Finalize the date time and location for each General Assembly Meeting
  • Appoint the General Assembly Committees
  • Appoint Chairs and follow up weekly with the Committee Chair
  • Maintain and update the GSA web site
  • Address concerns brought forth by graduate students by serving as a liaison between graduate students the university administration.
  • The GSA President can expect to spend a minimum of 25 hours a week fulfilling your duties.


Vice-President:
  • Assumes all responsibilities of the president if the president is unable to fulfill their duties
  • Serve on the University Curriculum Committee
  • Attend monthly GSA Officer Executive Meetings
  • Attend monthly GSA General Assembly Meetings
  • Finalize the minutes from each General Assembly Meeting
  • Co-organize all aspects of Midwest Graduate Research Symposium.
  • Oversee recruiting for the Midwest Graduate Research Symposium.
  • Address concerns brought forth by graduate students by serving as a liaison between graduate students the university administration.
  • Carry out responsibilities appointed to by the president.
  • Serve office hours in the GSA office.
  • The Vice-President can expect to spend a minimum of 10 hours a week fulfilling your duties.


Treasurer:
  • Organize and Maintain all aspects of the Travel Reimbursement Program
  • Chair the Travel Reimbursement Committee
  • Organize and Maintain all aspects of the GSA budget
  • Attend monthly GSA Officer Executive Meetings
  • Attend monthly GSA General Assembly Meetings
  • Serve office hours in the GSA office.
  • The Treasurer can expect to spend a minimum of 5 hours a week fulfilling your duties.

Secretary & Health-Science Secretary:


  • Create and submit to the President the agenda for each General Assembly Meeting
  • Take the minutes at each General Assembly Meeting
  • Type the minutes from each General Assembly Meeting
  • Revise the minutes at each General Assembly Meeting
  • Attend monthly GSA Officer Executive Meetings
  • Attend monthly GSA General Assembly Meetings
  • Chair monthly GSA meetings. 
  • Serve office hours in the GSA office.
  • The Secretary can expect to spend a minimum of 1 hour a week fulfilling your duties.
