Grace Sale

We are very proud of this outreach ministry that began in miniature in the basement of the church.The program has grown, doubling in size in February of 2014 to better serve the needs of the community.The store provides new clothing and household goods at modest prices, in addition to financially supporting various causes in the community. 

The boutique is a very unique program and is run by volunteers from the congregation and the larger community. Grace sale is located at 426 Avenue C on the corner of 18th and Avenue C. For more information about the program or how you can help, please call 201-339-3685.

                Monday-Friday 10:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Youth Empowerment Leadership Program (YELP)
The program is open to teenagers throughout Bayonne and the surrounding area. The Friday evenings are designed to focus on developing leader and self-esteem skills and includes a variety of settings and topics for our young people like bullying,self-defense, and community involvement. Program is directed by Diane Richie; Call the church office for more details.
 
Parent Empowerment Program (PEP)
The parent empowerment program are monthly workshops, designed to assist parents with more effective communication skills, problem-solving techniques, assertive training, and much more. Upcoming topics include:

Each program will begin at 9:00am in the basement meeting room at Grace Lutheran Church, 37th & Avenue C. The class instructor is Diane Richie.

The Fun Factory
Now in its second year, this recreational and fellowship ministry, designed for children, 8-16, with developmental disabilities and their families, continues to grow. The group meets on the first Saturday of the month in the Fellowship Hall of Grace Lutheran from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The sessions are designed to build friendships through play, recreation, art, music, and community integration. Fun at Turtle Back Zoo - August, 2016

                      


The December, 2014 program for the Fun Factory featured an art day at Grace Lutheran,
with the Women's Spiritual Group providing the art projects and the food for a day of fun and fellowship. The event was sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Thrivent Action Team.


In 2015, the Fun Factory, parents and friends have turned their attention to physical exercise and fitness with Zumba classes!

Bayonne Chamber of Commerce

We continue to be involved in the life of the Bayonne community as members of the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce and, as an active participant in the events and programs of the Chamber, we provide the leadership and participation in the community that is essential in building the larger community of Bayonne!

Academic Excellence-Child Development Assoc. Training  

120-hour training to receive National Child Development Associate certification and credentials. Classes meet twice a week from 9:30am-1:30pm. Upon completion of the training, these women will seek entry level positions in Early Childhood Education institutions. Call the church for more information.


H.I.G.H.W.A.Y.S Food Pantry

Our partner parish, Trinity Episcopal Church in Bergen Point, runs one of the few food pantries in Bayonne. Each Sunday members of Grace Lutheran collect non-perishables to support this program, besides the ways in which our social ministry boutique, Grace Sale, continues to assist this ministry, serving the most fragile and vulnerable of our community.

Hand in Hand Music School

 The Hand-in-Hand Music School's mission is to provide accessible music education for young and old in our community. The program seeks to foster growth of body, mind and spirit in attaining a more balanced and positive creative life. Members of Grace Lutheran serve as both teachers and students in the school.  Hand in Hand Music School Open Accoustic Jam!
This is a time when local acoustic players gather to play and sing together. Our first was held in October, and everyone had a great time. A note of thanks to all the participants and those who came to both hear and sing. A special thanks to Rich Casella who planned, organized, and played his way through the evening. English as a Second Language

             What a wonderful opportunity to improve communication skills and actively participate in the life of the whole community!  Registration for both the ESL classes and Citizenship class wll be on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. The ten-week, Tuesday evening classes will begin on September 12, 2017 from 6:30-8:30pm. The cost for the program is $30 which includes a light meal, baby-sitting, and learner manuals. Citizenship Classes 
 
Placement in the program is made through the ESL class levels. The cost is $30 per student.The ten-week, winter classe begins on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:30-8:30pm. For more information, please call 201-339-3685.

             
Art School   
                          
This six-session class, held on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m., has two sections: 3-5th grade & 6-8th grade. The cost for each young person is $60 for the six-week session.Call the church or email for more details. There are also free, open drawing sessions that are available to students as well.
