GPI Heads to Bolivia!

On Sunday, January 5th, a team of three undergraduate students from MIT's Global Poverty Initiative will be returning to San Ignacio de Velasco, Santa Cruz, Bolivia in hopes of continuing a project to improve waste management and recycling initiatives in the community. The team of three will be staying and working alongside the community for three weeks, with plans on returning again next Summer to continue and complete initiatives begun on this second trip. In this trip the team hopes to continue to gather first-hand data, begin a recycling collection system/cooperative, and educate the community on the importance of the program. Among many meetings with locals and government officials, they hope to leave a system in place to begin recyclable collection and final sale.
