As many college students have recently headed to their respective campuses, the Governor Wentworth Education Association would like to acknowledge this year’s recipients of its annual scholarships. Each year GWEA grants monetary awards to several high school graduates, and the scholarships are funded by member teachers. The association bases its decision on academic achievement and chooses among students who are children of GWEA members or are entering the field of education. This year’s award recipients are Tim Campbell, David Velez, and Everett Wyers. Campbell just started his freshman year at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Velez is attending Whittemore School of Business and Economics at UNH. Wyers recently completed new cadet week at Virginia Tech and will continue on as a freshman there. Each student was awarded a $700 scholarship to support his post-secondary academic endeavors.
