Thanks for visiting the website for the Gorham, Maine Rec Volleyball Leagues. After a few years of Tuesday and Thursday pickup play, we decided to add league play to the mix. After several seasons of Thursday night co-ed play, we switched Thursday nights to men's play and added a co-ed league on Mondays for fall 2011. As of fall 2012, the Monday night league now features reverse co-ed play exclusively.
The leagues are not officially sanctioned by MSVBA, so an Association membership is not required to join. We aim to provide C+ level (24 point roster cap) play on Thursdays and almost C+ level (23 point roster cap) play on Mondays. On this site you'll find a listing of league rules, a complete schedule, and results.
After several years of play at the Shaw Gym in Gorham, we've also moved the Monday night league to the Maine Sports Arena in Saco. Pickup play, and the Thursday men's league, will remain at the Shaw Gym in Gorham.
Want to Join our Leagues?
Our leagues are full for Fall 2019. If you're interested in putting in a team for the spring, or adding your name to the list of available players, please contact league commissioner Chris Cloutier at contact@gorhamvb.com. Preference is given to teams returning from the previous season.
Click for directions to Gorham Community Center's Shaw Gym for those who have not been there. The Maine Sports Arena is located at 15 Lund Rd, Saco.
Pickup play is no longer available on Tuesday nights, as of October 31, 2018. We will update this site if the situation changes.
Past Champions
Monday Reverse Co-ed League
The 2019-2020 reverse co-ed league wrapped its regular season on March 2, with Rob Thompson's team taking their first ever regular season title in convincing fashion. The one-night playoffs will take place on March 9 at the Maine Sports Arena in Saco. In the best-of-3 semifinals, Thompson will face fourth place finisher Jason Burks's team, and runner up Mike Maddix will face third place Chris Cloutier. A best-of-five final between the two winning teams will follow immediately after.
Thursday Men's League
The fall men's league is in the books, with Andrew Beety's team adding a seventh consecutive playoff title to their over-stuffed trophy case. This season we tried out all four teams making the playoffs, with regular season champions Chris Cloutier's team electing to play third place finisher Tyler Gibbs's team in the second best-of-three semifinal. In the first semifinal, Beety's team finished off "the Steves" in straight sets, 25-22, 25-20. The second semifinal went the distance, with Gibbs edging out Cloutier, 25-20, 17-25, 15-10. This setup a rematch of the spring semifinal, and again Beety's team prevailed in five sets over Gibbs: 19-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-9, 15-10.
Congratulations on another title Andrew Beety, Eric Beausoleil, Allan Moore, Ben Frech, Adam Greenlaw, and Brian Chin.
