My pal Amy Mayer asked me about Goo in the Loo this week and I am grateful, yet again, for the reminder to get going!  (I wonder if there's some way to set a reminder in my Google Calendar to do this each year....hmmm...I'll have to check into that.)  ;)

Hope your 2016 is off to a great start and that you can use these tips and a BIG THANK YOU to those of you who have submitted tips!

Another wonderful reminder...

This week I got another wonderful reminder that there are still people out there who are utilizing the Goo in the Loo posters!  (Thank you, Stephanie Sapp!)  One of these days, maybe I'll be able to use my own program.  :)  Until then, please feel free to submit your own Goo Tip at https://goo.gl/JUkWsz. Hope your year is off to a wonderful, Googley start!

New year! New tips!

January and February 2015 tips are live and ready in the Goo Tips page!  I am actually {gasp!} going to begin posting the tips in bathrooms in Brenham ISD this week.  The plan is to start small ... just at the high school where I am based this year and at my Tech Dept office.  We'll see what happens!  I'm in need of some more tips, so please go to the Goo Tips tab and submit your own!

One Year Later

It has been over a year since the birth of Goo in the Loo at the Google office in Chicago during GTACHI.  I have started collecting tips for the second year of implementation and look forward to seeing this program continue to grow and evolve.  If you would like to submit a tip, please click on the Goo Tips tab and follow the link.  I would love to hear how you are using Goo in the Loo in your own community or school!

Goo in the Loo is ALIVE!

Yesterday I learned that my GTACHI peeps are keeping Goo in the Loo alive, even though I was unable to follow through this semester!  It was the energy boost I needed to renew my commitment to this program.  I am committed to follow through with posting the flyers in BISD bathrooms in the Fall and trying to partner with local business to spread the Google tips throughout our community.  Thank you Mike and Marek Arsenault and Marek Beck for the injection of confidence - it was perfect timing!

A modified plan due to reality...

When I left GTACHI, I was fired up to save the world.  I started Goo in the Loo.  Got my plan all in place.  And then reality hit me.  Two little boys at home, a full-time job, graduate school and throw in a few family tragedies and illness and my roll-out got modified.  I really hope there are some of you out there who implemented Goo in the Loo on January 1 and have kept with it this month.  Unfortunately, I have yet to distribute and post the flyers in my own district and community.  I have not given up hope and still plan to implement Goo in the Loo in Brenham, but have to be realistic in what I can commit to at this point.  All of the flyers for 2014 are ready to go and I hope they're being utilized.  I will start a new, fresh plan this summer and be ready to roll-out in the Fall.  Would love to hear from any of you who have implemented!

I am so grateful for the overwhelming response to Goo in the Loo.  Thank you to all of you for your contributions, your thoughts, your feedback and your support!  I really hope this helps all of us spread some Google love, not only to our districts, but also to our communities.  I challenge you to try and find some local businesses that would let you post Goo in the Loo Tips in their bathrooms.  Let's see how many people we can affect!!!

Goo in the Loo is finally underway!

I have finally created the form to crowdsource my GTA community for Google tips and tricks for the Goo in the Loo posters.  Using the amazing script, Autocrat, developed by our very own Andrew Stillman, I was also able to set up a posted template that the form submissions will automatically populate.  I plan to meet with my Technology Director this week about posting the Goo in the Loo posters in our district and see what kind of permission, if any, I need to also post them in our community.  I am excited to finally get the ball rolling and I hope to have secured permission from my district to move forward with the plan by November 1, located 5 community partners by December 1 and begin posting flyers by January 1, 2014.  See the attached file for an example of a Goo in the Loo flyer.

The Birth of Goo in the Loo

While at GTACHI I noticed the use of tips & tricks documents posted in the bathroom stalls at the Google office.  These were called "Learning in the Loo" and they caught my eye every time I was in the bathroom.  This is a tactic I had seen before, but for some reason it clicked with me that perhaps this is a method that could help involve our community in our Brenham ISD Google roll-out.  During one of the SLAM sessions at GTACHI, a silly brainstorm led me to "Goo in the Loo."  It's a little tongue-in-cheek, but I think a little humor goes a long way.  I want to get people's attention.  I want them to take notice.  I think Goo in the Loo could just do that!
