GMC E-Blast
From Fr. Planning - "Please feel free to pass along this email that I sent to our faculty, staff, and Board this morning to the Gonzaga Mothers Club with my thanks for all that our moms did to make this week so special..."
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Board of Trustees:
I want to let everyone know about the outcome of our visit relating to the Sponsorship Agreement with the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus this week.  I'm sorry that I didn't send something out at the end of the day yesterday, but it was such a full day of activities that I eventually ran out of steam.
Tom Every, Fr. Gap LoBiondo, and I met with the visiting team at the end of the day yesterday.  They were effusive in their praise of Gonzaga. They spoke at length about the extraordinary work that you do and the life-changing, positive impact that it has on our students.  They said that, in addition to all of the positive things that can be said about our academics, extracurricular activities, Christian service projects, athletics, and retreats, what most impressed them is that our boys overwhelmingly believe that this is a community that loves them.  You can't get better than that!  As a result, they are unanimously recommending to the Provincial that Gonzaga be approved to enter into a new, five-year Sponsorship Agreement with the Maryland Province.
I want to thank each of you for all of the ways in which you give yourselves wholeheartedly to the Jesuit mission and Ignatian values of Gonzaga.   What is clear from the visit is that you are not only extraordinary education professionals, your work has a profound, positive impact on the lives of the boys you serve.  You touch their hearts as well as their minds.  Thank you for all that you do to support and promote God's beautiful work here on Eye Street.
I want to say a special thanks to Tom Every who shepherded the process through in expert fashion.  I want to thank the subcommittee chairs, Carol Corgan, Maureen McLaughlin, Leslie Keiser, and Fr. Gap.  I want to thank all of the various members of the different subcommittees for your extraordinary work.  Last, but not least, I want to thank the Gonzaga Board of Trustees for their vision, leadership, and promotion of Gonzaga's most cherished values.
We are the first school to go through this process under the new protocol.  The visiting team said that the work of the subcommittees set the bar high and gave a great example for how this process should work.  I want to say a special thanks to John Kilroy who took the reports of all the various subcommittees and expertly edited them into a single, polished report.  I also want to thank Susan Stanley-McGrath and Patty Stone for handling in flawless fashion all of the countless details of the week.
I believe this week was a beautiful celebration of Gonzaga at its best.  The extraordinary faculty retreat, the delightful International Food Day and Faculty Treats (thank you Gonzaga moms!!), and our inspirational Ignatian Heritage Day put on full display the hallowed history and traditions, the artistry, the talent, and the love that abound in our community.  Even the storm damage to St. Al's showed Gonzaga at its best in times of difficulty.
We have so much to be proud of and thankful for as we head into this most holy week of the year.  I hope that during this week everyone gets a chance to rest and recharge, and to give thanks for God's call to work alongside his Son on Eye Street.  I hope everyone has a blessed Holy Week and a Happy Easter!
Thanks and God Bless!
Fr. Planning

Got textbooks???

There will be several large boxes scattered throughout the school to collect any textbooks or paperbacks that you no longer need.  These books will be redistributed within the Gonzaga community.  Don't throw them out, other students can use them. Please bring them to the library or one of the Used Texbook Drop Off boxes located around campus.  If you have any questions, contact the library.
