Gamelan groups in the North East

Gamelan at Play is a Community Interest Company based in Chopwell, Tyne & Wear. We use the Gamelan for social cohesion and community development projects. We specialise in introducing people to the Gamelan instruments and often giving them their first experience of successfully playing music together as a group.
Gamelan at Play runs the Chopwell Community Gamelan group which is open to any resident in or around the Chopwell area and currently meets on Thursdays 7 - 8pm.

Gamelan at Play presents GONG Festival 2012: Gathering Of the Northern Gamelans (12-19 May 2012).

Durham Gamelan Society is the longest established Gamelan group in the North East having been started in the early 1980s. The Durham Gamelan society is a performance group which is led by Paul Fletcher and meets on Wednesdays 2 - 4pm at Durham Observatory, Potter's Bank, Durham.

Sessions are open to all.

'Dwi Gambira Sari' is the newest Gamelan group in the North East. Run by Gamelan North, it was established in September 2010 and its
programme is administered through The Sage Gateshead. Led by Chris Stones, the group  currently meets on Tuesdays.
