Elks: Celebrating 145 Years of Service to America

Since our founding, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks have been committed to the ideals of charity and patriotism. To that end, Elks have disbursed more than $3 billion in cash, goods, and services to the nation's youth, its veterans, and the disadvantaged and handicapped, and in support of patriotic and civic programs. And in so doing, have touched the lives of millions.

So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them. In each of the VA Medical Centers across the nation, you will find an Elk committee at work. Each year, hundreds of thousands of hours and similar numbers of dollars are devoted to programs that support, honor, and provide practical services to America's veterans.

Our annual "Hoop Shoot" is the most recognized Elks program, as well as the most popular. With more than 3 million participants annually, it has become our nation's largest coeducational sports program, teaching the values of perseverance, courage, and commitment to its young participants.

Because there is nothing more important to America's future than the education of our youth, each year we provide more than $3.64 million in college scholarships to graduating high school seniors. As a result, the Elks rank as one of the largest providers of college scholarships in the United States.

Who are the Elks?

Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building, golf course or pool. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up.
