Post Consumer: Waste Going Trayless

In 2008, Food Services found that by not using trays we could significantly reduce the amount of waste that occurs. Therefore, we became a trayless dining facility. What occurred?
A decline in post consumer waste by 42% over a period of 3 weeks.

In Winter 2009, a one week weighing of post consumer waste showed a remarkable decrease of waste by 63% when compared to Sept. 15-19 weights. A remarkable journey for patrons of the club Dining Facility and a credit to their efforts in sustainability.

The graph below shows the decline in the amount of waste between September and January.

To this day, we are still going trayless.
