What church or religion should you join?

None. They are all corrupt. Only God can save you. Only God can bless you and keep you. Read 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12. These are people who think they are worshiping God in a temple or church, but they are in fact worshiping Satan. Is it possible that Satan could deceive people to the point that they are worshiping him thinking that they are worshiping God? According to 2 Thessalonians 2, it happens. This period of time is called the great tribulation because of spiritual darkness, not physical suffering (Matthew 24:21, Revelation 7:14); we are living in this time. Also read Matthew 24:14-18; this is a command from God to leave the churches; the subject of Matthew 24 is the last days.

Read Hebrews 10:24-25. It does not say go to church. Assembling or gathering can take many forms...even online. Consider the believers in the first century; they met in people's homes, underground, in caves, outside; they had no formal, institutionalized churches. There is only one true church, and that is the body of Christ. Sadly, people trust in their churches, their temples, their religions, their pastors, their priests, their saints, their faith, their works, their sacraments, and their ceremonies instead of or in addition to trusting in God (Isaiah 1:1-31, Jeremiah 7:1-16, Jeremiah 32:30-34, Ezekiel 23:1-39, Ezekiel 33:31, Matthew 15:8-9, Romans 9:31-32).

Consider Israel in the Old Testament. They existed for almost 1500 years before God destroyed them. Israel is an example for us (1 Corinthians 10:11). They are an example of today's Gentile churches. Israel thought they were doing just fine, but when Jesus came, He exposed their wickedness and He rejected them; He had bad things to say about the religious leaders. When Jesus publically began His ministry, He was thrust out of the synagogue and they tried to kill Him: Luke 4:14-30. They spat on Him, they beat Him, they crucified Him. In fact, the early Jewish Christians had to depart out of the synagogues and assemble together outside of the synagogues, because the people in the synagogues no longer worshiped God: John 9:22, John 12:42. Based on 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 and other verses like it, history repeats itself...but this time with the Gentiles and their churches...instead of the Jews and their synagogues. Read Ezekiel 8:17-9:11.

In 1 Peter 4:17, God says "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" God judged Israel and destroyed them. The churches are under God's judgment now, and when He returns, He will destroy them along with the world.
