Our G.M.S.P.A. sponsored Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits. Don’t want to send cash or check to school with your child??...

** Now offering E-WALLET **

E-Wallet is kind of like your child’s lunch account. When you create an E-Wallet account, the amount you select as your child’s spending limit will appear as a temporary hold (or pending charge) on your credit card and will be reflected in your available balance. You will only be charged for what your child purchased at the Book Fair and after the fair ends, the hold will expire and the funds will be released back to your credit card.

Go to: www.scholastic.com/bf/georgehmitchellelemschool for more details and to set up your child’s E-WALLET!

CORI’D VOLUNTEERS are always needed!

Scholastic Book Fair Tips :
  • GMSPA sponsors the book fair twice per year, once in the fall and once in the spring, always near parent conferences.

  • Checks should be made payable to GMSPA. If you leave the check blank, the parents working the cash registers will fill in the amount for you. Please make note of how much you allow your child to spend. Cash is of course also welcome as are credit cards. We see credit cards mostly in the evening when parents stop by before or after the conference. You don't need your child to attend the book fair, lots of parents come alone so they can gift shop.

  • Not all children buy a book, so please don't feel pressure to do so.

  • The children will go to the book fair during the day with their teacher. If they have money with them then, they are permitted to purchase a book. If they do not have money with them, all children are allowed to make a wish list. Most children do bring these home, hoping parents might swing by for a book on their behalf.

  • Teachers also have wish lists. They are displayed all together just outside of the library. Teachers LOVE donations to their classrooms and many families buy books at the book fair as holiday gifts to the teachers.

  • We round all sales up to avoid using pennies.  We make book donations to school with that money.

  • There are many more books at the book fair than those you see in the preview flyer sent home in backpacks.  Also available to buy at the book fair are posters, bookmarks, erasers, pencils and such.  We recommend that you discuss with your child whether or not they are permitted to purchase non-book items.

  • We do take returns if the book was bought without a parent present and the parent later deems the book inappropriate. Please be in touch at gmspafamilies@gmail.com and we will work it out with you.
