I have been an active radio amateur (ham) since I was first licenced as GM3YEH in 1969. Before that I was a keen shortwave listener (SWL). As an SWL I used old valve domestic radios to receive transmissions from international broadcasters such as Radio Moscow, the Voice of America, Radio Nederland and many, many others. Sending reception reports away to these distant radio stations resulted in the receipt of confirmation cards (QSLs) which, in turn, fired my imagination to take my interest in radio further. It seemed to me that the logical step from being an SWL was to become a licenced radio amateur...so I did.
This web site will attempt to present some of the projects, on-air activities and presentations I have worked on and found worthy of sharing with my fellow radio enthusiasts. In some cases the projects will be ones that I have recently completed and in other cases the projects will have been completed some time ago.
All of the information provided is intended only as a guide to the active radio experimenter and operator to encourage others. No guarantees are given that my project descriptions and results will be able to be easily replicated. You may need to do some experimentation yourself! In trying out any of the ideas found here you are totally responsible for your own safety and the safety of others.
I will not be maintaining or updating the links I insert into pages on this site - if you find any broken links then you will need to do some web searching yourself to try and find what you need. As time goes past, some of the content will become somewhat dated. I will not be revising and updating content routinely.
I hope you enjoy what you find here and discover some of it to be useful.
