“The Circle is Safe Scholarship” is a program of GLYNY Again Inc., a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Gay & Lesbian Youth of New York (GLYNY) was originally founded as Gay Youth in August of 1969. As a youth founded, youth run and youth organized group, it was the wellspring for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth groups today. GLYNY Again was founded as an alumni group in June 2007 with the premise of reuniting the membership from all previous years. The reunited alumni agreed to establish an education endowment scholarship to benefit LGBT teens and young adults. The first scholarship was awarded in 2008.

From the earliest days of the youth group, we sat in a circle and and discussed the issues of our times.  In that circle, we found friendship, love, support, and safety.  In memory of that circle, we named our program "The Circle is Safe Scholarship."
